So about your question, did Saadeh’s ideas sound nice for Syrians so yeah sure but it would’ve been hell for the others and eventually Syrians down the line too. You see, the Lebanese, Iraqis, Jordanians, Palestinians and Cyprus didn’t fight Ottoman, British, Greek and French rule and get their independence from them just to have Syria become their masters and erase their own identity and I don’t think they would’ve just said “okay we’ll just become Syrians then”. The civil wars, sectarianism, corruption, nepotism of a state based on Saadeh’s ideas would leave the people in nothing more than poverty and misery.
